In contemporary art, it is possible to define a number of expressive techniques that accentuate various forms of artistic research as a suitable tool for the implementation of complex art projects. The roots of such an approach applied in the creative artistic process can be traced both in the strategies of postmodern art, understood as an active tool used to promote social content, and in post-productive artistic tendencies, which emphasize different ways of developing technological experiments. In the context of such a defined context, the basic methodological principles of the research of art forms and, through them, the wider social or environmental discourse are often established, often with the involvement of rich interdisciplinary contexts and cooperation. In this way, contemporary fine art radically expands the scope of its own activities, while at the same time integrating aspects of artistic research with other artistic approaches developed in parallel, such as conceptual, site-specific, procedural, participatory, educational or other activist-oriented forms of expression. Orientation of the contemporary artist in this specific field of art is necessary, as it naturally expands the field of communication with the viewer, and is also directly related to the process of finding new functions of art that create its current anchorage in the spectrum of sociocultural representation. Within the study subject Artistic research as a means of artistic work, doctoral students will focus on the analysis, contextualization and interpretation of specific, close to them and inspiring currents or manifestations of artistic creation, anchored in the context of connecting creative and research aspects of artistic production. An integral part of this course is a combination of research activities in the field of focus - artistic work with the involvement of elements of artistic research - and creative practical activities implemented in the form of complex designs or implementation of partial artistic outputs.
