The student of the course understands the spatiality in the behaviour, actions, decisions and ideas of an individual (eg mental maps Gould, Lynch), communities, ethnicity in the place and in the cultural framework. He/She operates with the concepts of home, place, region, identity, natural/cultural landscape, genius loci. He understands the terms in the historical context, from the Greek terms chora and topos through the approach of human geography, eg Vidal de la Blache and through the founders of modern humanistic geography (Tuan's work) to current concepts of British humanist geographers, such as Cresswell.
