Lectures: 1) Fundamentals of atomic physics I (atomic structure, fundamental particles, force interactions, ionization, photoeffect, mass spectrometry) 2) Optical imaging, optical microscope, endoscopy 3) Fluorescence imaging, LASER 4) X-ray history of origin, generation, absorption, resolution; primary beam, aperture, X-ray controls, secondary radiation 5) Regulation of intensity, character of radiation, resolution and size of focus; radiation protection, doses, standard projection, protective means, contrast agents, types of contrast agents 6) Mammography 7) Principle and application of computed tomography (CT) 8) USG mapping, acoustic impedance, mapping principle, A-mode and B-mode, TM mode; ECHO options - display types; Doppler effect 9) Shock wave, thermography 10) Magnetic resonance phenomenon principle Exercises: 1) X-ray history of origin, generation, absorption, resolution; primary beam, aperture, X-ray controls, secondary radiation 2) Regulation of intensity, character of radiation, resolution and size of focus; radiation protection, doses, dose calculations, examination protocols 3) Standard projection, protective means, contrast media, types of contrast media 4) USG mapping, acoustic resistance, mapping principle, A-mode and B-mode, TM mode; ECHO options - display types; Doppler effect 5) Optical imaging - principles of fiber optics; endoscopy instrument bases; endoscopy for individual clinical disciplines 6) Endoscopy 7) Introduction to ImageJ software 8) Image analysis 9) MR imaging applications 10) Application of optical imaging

Learning outcomes

Students will learn the basic laws of physics, which are necessary for understanding the other functions of imaging methods and systems.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

|
Written exam, Practical demonstration of acquired skills
Credit: - 80% participation in exercises, - self-study, - credit test.
