1.Polymers in nonwovens-basic terms Mechanical properties of polymers and their dependence on temperature Crystallinity, kinetics of crystallization Methods of thermal analysis of polymers Molecular weight and viscosity of melts and solutions. Dependence of viscosity on temperature and shear rate Mechanisms of polymer degradation and stabilization The most important polymers in nonwovens and their properties Crosslinking polymers 2. Fibers for nonwovens Basic properties of staple fibers (staple length, fineness, crimp, shrinkability, fiber finishes) Basic types of fibers for nonwovens Special fibers for nonwovens Fiber processability Choosing fibers to influence fabric properties Secondary fibers 3. Binders for nonwovens Main sorts of polymers and copolymers used as binders and their properties (adhesion, stress- strain properties) Forms of binders Polymer dispersions (emulsion polymerization, surfactants, coagulation methods, advantages, concentration and energy consumption) Foams, thickeners Bicomponent fibers 4. Additives to polymers, fibers and binders Additives to impart hydrofobic, hydrofilic and antimicrobial properties, non-flammability. Softeners
